Pea Harvest

How did you spend your Memorial Day Weekend?  I spent mine shucking peas. The weather was perfect on Saturday, and I did our second picking.  The first picking was last week, and they were good!  This is our best pea harvest ever.

My method of creating the pea row worked great.  The old tomato stalks provided a type of fence keeping the vines up off the ground and the hay provided shade keeping them cool.  When I folded the vines back, they were full of peas.

  1. Friday I made our first picking of barely enough for a meal off of vines 4 ft. tall. Today the second and last picking off the poorest crop we've had in a while, though they're seldom much to speak of. Congratulations. We got 2-1/2 inches of rain yesterday.

  2. Saw they had "flooding" on the radar for you yesterday.

    1. No flooding of note, but wind damage in several spots.
