The only thing to write home about in the Spring garden is Spinach! I don't usually have much luck with Spinach direct sowing. I think I will start spinach in pots from now on instead of direct sow. The bok choy and the peas look terrible having not survived our spring drought. We finally got 2.35 inches April 27 & 28.

Everything, everything of yours , looks superb. I've discovered, or suspect, not too late I hope, that so little of beans and cukes that came up is due to my sprinkling artificial fertilizer in the rows before planting. I do mix the stuff in, but evidently not enough to keep it from salting the emerging roots. On the similarly fertilized cole crops, already with developed roots, the plants are fantastic, but I seriously didn't know what I was doing with the 10-10-10. Lots of re-planting to do, though it's too wet at present. We had Bobolinks in the hairy vetch that's taken over the back fields.
ReplyDeleteNew bird, Bobolink, I have never seen them. I guess they were migrating.
