Lettuce made it through the heat last week without getting bitter!  Radish have not done so well, but maybe rain will fix that.  Same goes for onions.  Peas are starting to bloom and strawberries turn red.  I got in the winter squash seeds and some flower seeds before the rain started today.

Bean Field

Last weekend, May 10th, David planted this bean field:  Lima, green, red, black, white and pinto.  I planted seeds in the upper garden of basil, cucumber, okra, summer squash, along with my Dutch cabbage seedlings.  Now I sit here listening to the rain and I am a happy gardener.  Peas should make and the strawberries are coming on!

Kale planted on the 29th of April

in anticipation of a rain the 30th.  All the cabbages looks great as well as lettuce.  Spinach is a failure as always.  Swiss Chard came up along with chinese cabbages.  I started the kale in the green house, and I think there are some seeds in the ground too, which came up sparse.

Night bunny has eaten everything I bought at Fayette Seeds, carrot celery and cabbages.  He has left the peas alone...but probably can not get through the maze of chicken wire I put up for the peas to climb on.  The electric mesh will not keep bunny out this year like last year.  My theory is he is fenced in there with the vegtables, but David disagrees.
