Tomato Canning has Begun
Tomato canning began on September 5th, along with a big harvest of corn. Summer squash is still producing and okra is coming on. I froze 4 pints last weekend. Tonight we are having spaghetti squash with David's spaghetti sauce and a lovely salad from the fall garden (see below).

Hot Chiles
Poblano chiles are here and they are HOT!

Two immature screech owl appear every evening after sundown in the mimosa tree in the front yard. We believe their nest is in the hollow locust tree nearby.

Longday Onions
The long day onions are hanging in there. Grandma said "Don't let it rain on your onions in July", but I think she was talking about intermediates. I am going to leave the long day onions in to see if they grow more. They got 1/2 inch of rain today so we'll see if they grow!
For some reason the photos would not rotate today?
